Assisting with the unmet needs of veterans and their families who live in Mason County, Michigan.
The Mason County Veterans Endowment Fund supports unmet needs of veterans & their families who reside in Mason County. The Fund was established in 2009 by Budde Reed & Rick Plummer, both Vietnam combat veterans.
The Fund has assisted many veterans since its inception, both on its own & in partnership with county, municipal, & private organizations & agencies. Funds from the endowment are held & managed by the Community Foundation for Mason County (affiliate of the Community Foundation of Muskegon County).
Applications to receive a grant from the Veterans Endowment Fund are accepted on an on-going basis & reviewed by an Advisory Board.
An applicant must be a veteran, or the spouse or child of a veteran (a veteran is identified as either an individual who has served, or is currently serving, in an armed service of the United States of America).
Assistance is primarily for emergencies, not for continuing needs & is generally granted to a veteran no more than once during any calendar year; however, the Advisory Board may use its discretion to provide assistance for continuing needs or for more than one time in a year.
